A Frailty Index (FI) can be calculated using one of the SPSS syntax below. Except for the FI syntax without morbidity items, 4 FI syntax with morbidity items were developed seperately for all 4 variants of the TOPICS Short Form 2017 (baseline, clinic, outpatient and follow-up).

Please note: the first syntax calculates a FI without morbidity items. This may result in a higher frailty index than a frailty index that incorporates the morbidities as used in the other syntax. We strongly advise you to take this into account when calculating frailty.
